Adobe Exec Contact Info
I cross posted this on Direct-L, but I think it's appropriate to post here as well...
This may be futile, but it is worth a try, and I'm asking for your help.
I'm at the point where I want to appeal directly to Adobe upper management. I want to do this by adhering to the adage "the squeaky wheel gets the
oil." Believe me, I'm nothing if not aggressive and persistent. I'm very
very tired of the lack of clarity, roadmaps, communication, the slavish
focus on Flash and AIR, etc. My livelihood depends on this. Yes, I can
drop Director and move to Flash or other solutions, but that means a lot of
wasted effort and $$$.
My intention is to start a letter writing campaign starting with the CEO,
CTO, etc. I can also try to get phone conferences and face to face meetings
with them, buttonhole them at conferences, etc. I'm located in Southern
California, and Adobe headquarters is in San Jose, I believe, so I could
make a trip there without too much trouble.
It seems worthless to appeal to Allen Partridge or anyone in India. In
fact, part of my appeal to the execs will be a petition for Allen's
replacement (Allen, I hope you are reading!).
I'd like to collect as many emails, phone #'s of top execs, their
assistants, their blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter addresses, upcoming
conferences, etc. as possible. I'll even take some phone numbers in India,
however worthless. I'd also like to collect some personal narratives,
Director success stories, active and popular Director / Shockwave
applications and websites, etc.
I'm an engineer and programmer, but also a business person and can shmooze
well in social situations. I can be noisy and obnoxious or pleasant
depending on the situation. So, I'm asking for your help. Either some news
is just around the corner about an update, or we'll soon be singing
Director's swan song.
Thanks for reading,
Brian

Brian,
even if there was a new version to miraculously appear,
do you think it's your best option to stick with an IDE
whose engineering and marketing is practically non-existant
in the community and the whole multimedia, games and eLearning
business?
"What tool do you suggest?"
"Director"
"What?"
"Adobe Director, Shockwave"
"What? Well ok, we'll call you. ANYONE FLASH HERE?"
When the pin-ball machine shows "GAME OVER" it doesn't help
much to bump, kick, beat the machine. Don't waste your energy.
Just my $0.25 coin,
Martin

Martin,
I know the machine is broken. I'm already deep into Flash, Flex, etc. and have little false hope. I just want clarity so I can make plans. Do I hold onto my Director development for a while longer or abandon it now? Adobe owes us that. Like I said, "the squeaky wheel...". I can petition for more focus on Director, but really just want info whether good or bad.

It could not hurt to do a little lobbieing. The lack of communication and the uncertainty of the future efforts it clearly undesiarable.
When talking about good shockwave applications two recent spring to mind.
Burning Rubber 3 {which has been the #No.1 game on shockwave.com for a long time now.}

And
TeamTanks {Which was recently mentioned on this forum}

I'm pretty sure you already know that Rajnish Bharti and Aunindo Ghosh have also left the ship.

Thanks for the info, guys. It does look very bad for Director. They're probably just waiting to milk people for more $$$ before making the fateful announcement. I'm still going to plow ahead and try to contact as many people as possible.
