Thanks Arnold, I had a look, indeed- an empty swf loading ad that then links to the shockwave game.

I got in touch with mochi a while ago also but no cigar- essentially getting the advert into the dcr would mean you could cut it free of its site lock so to speak allowing other sites to host it but you still get a trickle income- would not be a good idea with ongoing mmo titles but single player game instances would thrive.

I don't understand how mochi works exactly. But I would imagin they wrap a flash movie around your flash game and let the Mochi Movie check the current URL. But this will probably not be more than using 'the moviepath' with director. {framing a mochi flash game to a different site would probabbly still be possible...?}

There are besically two possible roads.
1. get them to allow the use of the flash Mochi like MCamp did.
or
2. get them to tell what they need exactly and create a custom shockwave solution. {and convince them they should allow it to be used}

The only thing director is not so nice in, is that LDM (linked director movies) are not as easy to use as using flash movie in flash movie. I could imagin this is part of the problem. But i could also imagin shockwave is just too small for them to make a effort, more so if they have no one with director experiance.

3. Because it is not possible to wrap a Shockwave movie into a Flash movie, their way of securing their mochi ads and keeping it linked to a specific flash movie are incompatible.

Mochi simply loads a swf advert from their ad server into an mc in your swf game via a loadMovie call. you also set allowDomain of their ad server in the flash system.security class.

That same advert could be preloadnething'd (lingo) into shockwave dcr for display on say frame 1 of your game, in shockwave as far as I understand there is no way allowing domains to share content other than dropping a cross domain policy xml file on the server, unlike flash which can be set from in applet.

With out the freedom of allowing domain, shockwave prompts a grey security dialog screen asking to allow access- this is not good, hence our SMUS hack mentioned earlier.

Its been a while but when I have a chance I'll dig up some of the old works and refresh the cranium- will post on any further progress

I think I understand. I really lack the knowlage at this time, but I have seen people talk about using PHP to upload images, and then import them into director. But this is from the users computer, anyway maybe PHP can also help to work around this.

This would require Mochi to do some work, which is probably not to be expected.
