Default 1. Director Live Online Meeting

Hi folks,

on Tuesday, June 3rd @ 9am EDT we will hold a live online meeting with users and the Adobe Director Dev Team to demonstrate and discuss bugs and quirks in Director 11 and of course have a Q&A session.
This meeting will be an Adobe Connect live meeting incl. screen-sharing, VoIP audio, chat and more.

If you have any bugs or quirks to present and discuss, please let me know so I can add them to the agenda.

Many thanks - it was cool/hot.
So i plan to visit the meeting
at the 3rd june - even as a listener.
And also thanks for the "quick" live presentations.

Are there any places to learn/test/train the used technic
a little bit more - last night i was a little bit "overloaded"
(missing headphone, voice, video etc ...)

Regards

Good morning Aldus,

as far as I know you can sign-up for a trial account on adobe.com.
Just look for "Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro".

Cheers,
Martin

Please ask them to add concaveshape DYNAMIC rigid bodies like in Havok.

From there manual:
A rigid body using #concaveshape proxy must be #static. A -28 error is thrown if you try to create a concave dynamic body.

Please ask them if they can add that. I know it's not a bug but it leaves a bunch of my games stuck on havok because they use dynamic rigid bodies. example a moveable basketball court... or a movable garbage can...

Hi KingDruid,
I answered you on Adobe Forums already. But again, it's a live meeting, so feel free to join tomorrow and ask your question there. The best is, if you can prove with strong and understandable arguments, why you need this feature.

Please remember:
A feature request like "I need X" is much less likely to be considered than a feature request like "I need X because ...".

Hope to see you tomorrow,
Martin

Hi,

thanks a lot to all of you guys who attended todays meeting, which hopefully was the first in a series of upcoming meetings. Thanks also to the Adobe Director Dev team and I really invite you to attend future meetings, because this is a great chance for you and us to get a little bit closer.

We had a peak of 51 attendants, which is great especially because it was very early at least for US west coast Director users.

Sadly I forgot to record the meeting and I'm really very sorry about that (was just to nervous and busy to remember that record button). I promise, that I will post a summary here by tommorow.

I'm sure we will repeat these meetings and I hope that some of you will have ideas and are willing to present to the community and to the folks at Adobe.

Cheers and thanks,
Martin

Default Summary

Hi all,

I promised to give you a short summary of what we did on the 1. Director DingDing (Meeting).

But first I want to thank you guys to give so much inspiration for a better name for
our meeting. I loved Mal Mals idea (DinDin) and just changed it a bit to DingDing like
a ringing-bell.
Perfect metaphor for "C'mon, let's begin".
Please notice, that DingDing sounds very different to DangDang, which could be easily
mistaken for a closing-bell (Wall Street)!

Anyway, let me try to summarize the first DingDing now.

After a short introduction (and some horrid music, which Alex asked for) I started to
demonstrate some text issues which I either already have recorded or will record shortly
just like the "award-winning" ones I've already made available in the Director Community Bugbase and on Directorforum.

Most of these bugs were already known by the Dev Team and Krishnan promised to give us an update by next week.

I really hope, they understood how crucial fixing these bugs is.

Afterwards I presented an issue with the message window being placed inside the right panel group, which makes it impossible to attach behaviors to sprites via the behavior inspector. Strange stuff.

After this, Lutz Westermann and Berndt Garbotz tried to present on various PhysX and 3D bugs and quirks, which turned out to be a bit difficult. The Adobe Connect system has a rather low frame rate when sharing the screen ... and ... for us non-native english speaking folks (me included) it's often very hard to find the right words to perfectly explain.
Lutz and Berndt are already in contact with the appr. Devs and the have put a lot of effort into preparing demo files and to explain the problems as good as possible.

At the end of the session I (again) asked for more open communication with the community and I feel like they are ready to change that now. The door can still open
up more, and I strongly believe that we can improve step by step. These meetings are a great way to do so and I really hope that next time we weill be able to welcome Allen and Tridib to the event.
Btw.: Director has a new product manager, Rajnish, who introduced himself on Tuesday.

51 attendees was a great success and exceeded my expectations by far. I'm really hape that we all made this happen and I'm looking forward to repeat that on a regular basis.

Please note: This meeting and future meetings are NOT by any means MY (Martin) effort, but a community effort and everybody can and shall be involved. The Directorforum was granted "Adobe User Group" status about 2.5 years ago and one of the benefits is, that we
are given this great Adobe Connect Pro Account. It's up to all of us to make use of it.

Thanks guys and let's go DingDing.

Cheers,
Martin
